Driving cross-country is a big deal... Especially for my little 2006 Honda Civic with 100,000 miles. I have to say that with regular maintenance on my car, I had few problems in the past. The major repair was the exhaust system. This time was different. Changing all the brakes, rotors, a belt, oil and transmission fluid cost me a hefty $1200. I hope this was a good investment and will guarantee a car-trouble-eventless trip.
Why didn't I just transport my car via a tractor-trailer? Well, firstly, I really wanted to go on a cross-country trip, and that requires a car. Secondly, if I wanted to rent a car, it would cost about $1700 plus the cost of shipping my car (another $1700). The decision was clear to me.
