Big Glassy Trail to Little Glassy Mountain Trail Loop was a wonderful little hike in Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site (wayyy too many words here!). The path was clear of spider webs, slow and steady incline coupled with a decent view at the top. I didn't get to visit the goats (as per other visitors who told me "what's the point of even coming here if you don't see the goats!") or explore the historic home of Carl Sandburg (sadly for me, I only found out who he was after a search online), but truly enjoyed the nature.

Views at the top were obstructed by the foliage, but you can still see the shape of the mountains in the back |
I then stopped at a local coffee shop rated as almost five stars. It was a pity that neither their service or coffee impressed me. Perhaps it's the lack of attention to detail, such as foam art when you pay $5-6 for a cup of cappuccino or maybe it's the continuously unfair $1 upcharge for oat milk, but ShareWell Coffee did not share well with me (oh that's so cheesy!).
I did another walk later in the week right before my departure after my host asked me if I walked Doodle Trail yet. Now I hardly could resist it, and on my day off I headed to Easley one last time. The trail was a paved walking greenway trail, exactly what I wanted! While it passed through some sketchy neighborhoods, it was pleasant enough further along as it diverted from the main roads onto the pastures and more spread out neighborhoods. I wish I had discovered it sooner as it started in Pickens only 15 minutes from my rental.
The last few nights were quite buggy at the apartment. Cockroaches hatched somewhere, and I found 3 of them dead on the floor. The new tenant of the guest house on the property also experienced the same phenomenon and brought me cockroach bait. I didn't end up using it because of my cat, but as a precaution pulled out my trusted tent and slept in it soundly avoiding trouble.

You just never know what you might need on the road. All fitting in a small Honda Civic! |
Finally, I grabbed lunch at Pita House which was again recommended by my host. Indeed, the trip to Greenville was not a waste. I loved their hummus, and falafel was excellent. In fact, I would absolutely go back there just to try something else. Maybe if I visit my host again, I will stop by!
The moving day came, and I was almost ready to go. My car had an extra box and a few heavy items that I got from my storage when I moved earlier this month, but looked pretty drivable.

I always gauge the load by how low the body of the car sinks in the back against the rear wheels. |
Kitty was safely loaded, and with a minor level of anxiety that is typical for me on moving days, I was on my way. The drive was only 3 hours, maybe 3.5 with a few stops. I was supposed to arrive at 2.30 PM with a check in of 4. I decided to stop by a grocery store to get some eggs and avocado (Kitty was safe in an air conditioned car - thanks to my ex-husbands' gift of a remote starter from 10 years ago) and just see it the place would be ready earlier. It was! And the new adventure began...
