The day had to start early since I planned to visit
Chicago Botanic Garden on my way to Minneapolis. Only 25 minutes north from Evanston, Botanic Garden is conveniently proximal to the city, yet provides a peaceful escape from busy city life. The entrance is free, but they do charge $25 for parking. I spent there only 2 hours, but it was worth the money, for sure:

Couchsurfing with a host who was super accommodating! She invited me to join her and her roommate to a local brewery where for the first time in my life I tried food from a truck!
Local art in the eclectic bathroom was quite interesting as well:
