Cross-country trip DAY 14: Salt Lake City, UT

Last night was less than desirable. My Couchsurfing host had a young child who would not stop screaming until 10 PM. In addition to that I was bitten by a mosquito residing in the room I stayed at. He had no mercy. I was actually concerned about bed bugs, but after a thorough investigation of the mattress and bed sheets I found nothing. I decided against staying there the second night I planned, and instead book another AirBnb. I woke up at 4 AM, showered and headed out... Where? Yes, to see the sunrise at Ensign Peak! When life gives you lemons, make a lemonade!

Heck, Yeah!

After seeing the beautiful sunrise, I headed to the meeting point to catch a bus for my Salt Lake City tour.

Can I say amazing singing? Yes! I have never heard of Mormon Tabernacle Choir, have you?

As part of the Salt Lake City tour, we visited both the Sunday rehearsal and the performance that was transmitted live all over the world. Youtube video won't really show how amazing the choir is! There are 360 members at the time of performance, each of whom have gone through extensive selection and training.

After this one in a lifetime experience, the tour continued. I realized that much of Utah is controlled by the Mormon Church. In fact, 1/3rd of the Salt Lake City population is Mormon, and about 2/3rds of the rest of Utah belong to the LDS Church. Interesting, how religion influences the whole state...

Another State Capitol, this time Utah
After the tour I stayed at my new AirBnb place with Deb who was an amazing host and a fabulous cook!
